w/ J. Riley Hill Dec. 6,7
We played Thursday night at Millard’s Garage in Sudbury and Friday night at Bohemian At The Lakehouse in Bracebridge. Both were really awesome shows. The band we played with, J. Riley Hill and The BiPolarbears, had a totally off the wall unique sound. The songs were very intricate and unpredictable. Totally an artist worth checking out. It was our first time actually playing at the garage after numerous times visiting for shows and generally partying down.
After a very intimate, relaxed set of music at the Lakehouse we drove back to North Bay to play a hometown show on Saturday night with Dany Laj and The Looks. Until next time we are back to the grind with recording. We are putting down some more vocal parts before handing the tracks off to Ben Legget for mixing and mastering.

The Raven and Republic w/ Audio/Rocketry
The Raven is turning out to be a great new place to host indie music events and we can’t wait to head back there this Tuesday. Just about a year ago, I was introduced, via the intermet, to a new pal named Joe Vickers. Mike and I did a set with Joe’s band, Audio/Rocketry, at 100 Georges which is the location of the Raven and Republic.
This is an early show. Over by midnight, so that means it will actually start at 9pm. Cover is just five bones and we hope to see you all out of for a night of fun next Tuesday.

After that, we’ll be trucking off to Sudbury to play with Strange Attractor and B.A. Johnston at The Townehouse in Sudbury. Townehouse is a place I had a lot of fun whenever visiting Suds and I’m excited for our first time playing there.
These two dates are part of B.A.’s cross canada tour in support of his new album, Hi Dudes.

Dany Laj @ The Raven and The Republic
A whole weekend with Laj … it hasn’t happened round these parts for a while. For those in the know… well, they know. Those who are not, depending on the strength of your liver, curiosity may be your best friend, or your worst enemy in this case.
The Raven and Republic is about to get a Rock and Roll Readjustment courtesy of the Kirkland Carpenter who is almost formerly of Toronto. Montreal is next on the list of future places that Dany used to be from. Good luck Montreal!
Dany Laj and the Looks
“He sounds like Paul McCartney and Patti Smith’s bastard love child that grew up listening to too much Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello and the Replacements.
Springsteen sang once about being ‘a rich man singing in a poor man’s shirt’. Growing up in northern Ontario, in a French-Canadian hockey playing family, Laj is the furthest thing from a poseur you’ll ever meet. He’s real, and so is his music, and he works, playing over a hundred shows a year and putting the hard miles on cracked Canadian highways, north, south, east and west.
So when you see Dany Laj & The Looks on a marquee in your neck of the woods, do yourself a favour and check it out. You’ll thank me.”

artists/Dany-Laj Brian Dunn
“Brian Dunn, the needs-to-known songwriter from Sudbury, barrels at you like a big old 1970s dog or Chrysler. He’s written an Americana album about late nights, stormy weather and the simple companionship of your favourite vices and voices, in the absence of other things. There’s some Springsteen here, not in any imitative sense, but in Dunn’s freeness and knack for robust melodies. Turn on the radio, or thetelevision; let’s listen all alone, all together. I think that’s what this Dunn character is saying.”Brad Wheeler, The Globe And Mail

artists/BRIAN-DUNN Ryan Problems and the Solutions
Ryan Problems is a country-fried folk punk trailblazer from North Bay, Ontario armed with an acoustic guitar and more harmonicas than you can shake a beer can at.
He comes with his own Solutions. The stand up bass problem is solved by none other than Jonesy himself, and if you don’t believe in unicorns, you won’t believe how hard Michael Powers Steel Favretto rocks the mandolin either. You’ll believe in both by the end. -

We played a show with travellers Tzomi Sara and Megan G at the Bull and Quench. Its kind of hard to explain what went down at this show but here is a video from that night shot by Joe Jobs.
